Compressed air microfilters
A microfilter is the finest coalescing filter: it captures particles from 0.01 µm and oil aerosol so that at most 0.01 mg/m³ of oil remains in the air – class 1 for solid particles and oil according to ISO 8573-1. A 0.1 µm fine pre-filter goes before the microfilter, and activated carbon for oil vapour and odours after it if needed. Where to use a microfilter
Paint shops, food and packaging, pharmaceuticals, electronics, measuring and control equipment and the inlet of a desiccant dryer. Microfilters are also available for oxygen (AAFO2, HFO2).

How to choose a microfilter
- Never without a pre-filter: a fine pre-filter of the same size goes before the microfilter, otherwise the element clogs quickly. For oil vapour and odours add activated carbon after the microfilter.
- Pressure and housing: up to 16 bar the aluminium AAF series, up to 16 and 25 bar the flanged BF and BFHP, up to 50 bar HF, stainless process series up to 14 and 50 bar and high-pressure CHP and IHP up to 100, 250 and 420 bar.
- Size by the flow at your pressure. The nominal flow applies to the reference pressure; at lower pressure a larger filter is needed – the conversion is on each series page.
- Oil and water removal: captured oil and water drain from the coalescing element into the bowl, so the filter needs a condensate drain and a clogging indicator.
