Rotair Foodgrade is the oil for plants where a trace of oil in the air must not contaminate the product — pharmaceutical production, food and beverage, and electronics. It carries NSF H1, halal and kosher certification, and the five-litre canister is the smallest pack of the range.
What the certification means and what it does not
NSF H1 certification means the oil is safe in the event of incidental contact with food. It is not permission to add oil to the product — it is cover for the case where a trace of oil reaches the compressed air.
That safety is paid for in endurance, though. The change interval is 2,000 running hours and the ambient limit 30 °C — the same as the basic mineral Rotair, not the synthetic Xtra. It is a different oil for a different purpose, not a higher grade.
What the manufacturer states
- Genuine lubricant for ABAC SPINN screw compressors.
- Viscosity grade ISO VG 46 — the same across all four Rotair oils.
- The manufacturer quotes the service life at normal temperature and humidity and in a dust-free environment.
- The oil filter and separator are changed together with the oil.
- Density at 15 °C 0.84 kg/dm³, viscosity index 134, pour point -57 °C.
- Ambient temperature range 0 to 30 °C, colour clear.
- Certification: NSF H1, halal, košer.
How it differs from its siblings
Larger packs are RTF-20 and RTF-209. If your plant does not require food certification, RTR-5 works out cheaper at the same interval, or RTP-5 at double.

Oil alone is not enough for a food plant. Check the filtration downstream of the compressor too — that is where what reaches the air is decided.
Technical data follow the supplier’s datasheet and the manufacturer’s documentation. The change interval applies at normal temperature and humidity and in a dust-free environment. Oil is drained warm, with the machine shut down and depressurised.
