Rotair Plus is a heavily additised mineral oil — still a mineral base, but with an additive package that moves the change interval to double and the ambient temperature five degrees higher than the basic Rotair. The five-litre canister is the smallest pack of the range.
What the extra additives do
Anti-oxidation additives slow the oil’s reaction with oxygen, water and dust. That is exactly what destroys oil in a screw machine — which is why Rotair Plus lasts 4,000 running hours where the basic Rotair lasts 2,000.
The manufacturer also recommends it for damp and dusty environments up to 30 °C, where the basic Rotair would no longer do, and for 30 to 40 °C under mild to medium loading.
What the manufacturer states
- Genuine lubricant for ABAC SPINN screw compressors.
- Viscosity grade ISO VG 46 — the same across all four Rotair oils.
- The manufacturer quotes the service life at normal temperature and humidity and in a dust-free environment.
- The oil filter and separator are changed together with the oil.
- Density at 15 °C 0.88 kg/dm³, viscosity index 102, pour point -33 °C.
- Ambient temperature range 0 to 35 °C, colour clear to light brown.
How it differs from its siblings
Larger packs of the same oil are RTP-20 and RTP-209. The cheaper base is RTR-5, the top synthetic range RTX-5, and for food plants RTF-5.

A longer interval does not mean the oil can be forgotten. The machine counts the running hours itself — you only have to read them now and then.
Technical data follow the supplier’s datasheet and the manufacturer’s documentation. The change interval applies at normal temperature and humidity and in a dust-free environment. Oil is drained warm, with the machine shut down and depressurised.
