Product detailed description
WALTER Cast Iron Piston Compressor - WK430-3,0/50P
The WK430-3,0/50P is the smallest compressor in the WALTER range with a pressure vessel: a full cast-iron twin-cylinder in 2V configuration with a power input of 2.2 kW, intake of 420 l/min, and an effective delivery of 340 l/min at a pressure of 10 bar. The unit runs at 1 276 rpm and is mounted on a horizontal air receiver with a volume of 50 l. It is powered by a three-phase 400 V / 50 Hz supply, with noise levels of approximately 80 dB(A) according to the manufacturer's methodology, and a 3-year warranty upon registration at waltercesko.cz.
A 50 l tank on a three-phase motor is a combination for a workshop that has a 400 V socket and wants the smallest possible cast iron machine — for short tasks, as a second air source for a larger compressor, or for workstations where the compressor is moved around. Those who will draw air continuously should go straight for a larger tank: 50 l is a reserve for individual bursts, not for continuous operation.
Configuration of this machine
Why choose this model
Both cylinders and heads are cast iron, just like the 7.5 kW machines at the top of the range; the compression is single-stage, lubrication is oil-based, and the drive is via V-belts. The cylinder liner is machinable and the rings are replaceable, ensuring that even the smallest compressor in the range with a pressure vessel is a repairable service item, not a single-use commodity.
340 l/min from a 2.2 kW power input provides 154.5 litres per kilowatt, which is the highest specific performance in the entire WALTER range; this figure is identical for all machines in the 2.2 kW class. You get the most air for the electricity consumed. The trade-off is the highest speed in the range — 1 276 rpm compared to 768 rpm for the WK1500-10/500P model.
Compared to the otherwise identical WK430-3,0/50AP variant, the starting current is split across three phases, so the machine does not overload a single circuit and the fusing requirements are incomparably milder. If you have 400 V in your workshop, this is the primary reason to choose this version even with the smallest tank.
A 50 l horizontal tank on wheels makes this machine the smallest compressor in the WALTER range with a pressure vessel — smaller are only independent units on a base frame which have no tank at all. It fits under a workbench, in the corner of a service pit, or in a van, and can be moved by one person, which is not the case for higher-class cast iron machines that require pallet transport.
Design and technology

Piston, rings and cast-iron liner
The cast-iron cylinder liner and piston rings are standard service parts — the unit can be refurbished after years of use rather than discarded.

Intake filter with steel mesh
The new generation metal insert withstands repeated blowing out with compressed air, whereas a paper insert would tear after a few cleanings.

Head gaskets and valves
The redesigned cylinder head gaskets maintain pressure even after thermal cycles; valve plates are stocked as spare parts.

Inspection on a 3D measuring machine
Key dimensions of the unit are verified on a coordinate measuring machine — this ensures that parts from different series fit together perfectly.
Technical Data WK430-3,0/50P
What the data sheet doesn't tell you — calculated values
Values are calculated from manufacturer parameters and serve for comparing models with each other, not as a guaranteed figure.
Who is it for
A typical buyer is a small locksmith, assembly, or carpentry workshop with a three-phase distribution board that needs air for a stapler, blow-off, ratchet, and inflation — i.e., for short tasks with pauses in between. A second common group is businesses that already have one compressor and are looking for a second source for more distant workstations to avoid running 50 m of hose. For regular grinding, painting, or changing wheel after wheel, this machine is undersized, and it is honest to state this upfront.
Typical applications
- Blow guns and cleaning of parts and workspaces with compressed air
- Tyre inflation and blowing up in a small service station
- Stapler and nail gun in a carpentry shop or during assembly
- 3/8" pneumatic ratchet for dismantling work
- Individual joints with a 1/2" impact wrench — briefly, not in series
- Blow gun and mould blowing in small-scale production
Where to choose a different model
With a 2 bar difference between the cut-in and cut-out pressure, a 50 l tank delivers only about 100 litres of free air per cycle. With a continuous consumption of 150 l/min, this means approximately 50 starts per hour. The same unit with 100 l starts about 25×, which is half as often — and a piston compressor is worn down by starts, not by engine hours.
View recommended model →The exact same machine with the same tank is also available for standard 230 V under the code WK430-3,0/50AP. According to the manufacturer's documentation, the parameters remain unchanged; only the electrical installation requirements change — a dedicated circuit and a slow-blow circuit breaker.
View recommended model →Both orbital sanders and HVLP spray guns consume 250 to 450 l/min continuously, which exceeds the 340 l/min output of this machine. For continuous consumption, opt for the 3.0 kW class with 440 l/min and a 200 l tank, where the reserve and performance are in a reasonable proportion.

Inspections may be carried out by an authorised WALTER service centre or by yourself — provided that original parts and fluids are used and proof of purchase is retained.
3 year WALTER warranty

36 months after registration at waltercesko.cz
The warranty is provided by Walter Kompressortechnik Česko s.r.o. (Ostrava). Machine registration extends the warranty to 36 months from the date of purchase; proof of purchase is required to claim the warranty.
- Claim assessment within 14 working days, approved repairs free of charge and completed within 30 days
- After 4 repairs and a further defect, you are entitled to a replacement of the machine with a fault-free one
- You may perform the prescribed inspections yourself — using original parts and providing proof of purchase
Transport and Commissioning
The machine is delivered on a pallet. Before the first start, check the oil level, direction of rotation, and the tightness of connections; after the first 8 hours of operation, tighten the cylinder head bolts to a torque of 25 Nm. Leave the electrical connection to a professional — for three-phase machines, it is necessary to verify the correct phase sequence.
