Product detailed description
WALTER WK430-3.0/50AP Cast Iron Piston Compressor - 10 Bar, 50l
WK430-3.0/50AP is the entry-level model of the WALTER range, operating on standard 230 V / 50 Hz. Under the belt guard operates a fully cast-iron 2V twin-cylinder with a power input of 2.2 kW, suction of 420 l/min and an effective displacement of 340 l/min at 10 bar, with unit speeds of 1 276 rpm. The air receiver is horizontal with a volume of 50 l, noise levels approx. 80 dB(A), and a 3-year warranty upon registration at waltercesko.cz.
The letter A in the code means one thing: the machine connects to a single-phase network, so there is no need to arrange a three-phase connection. It is the easiest way to obtain a cast-iron slow-running unit where only standard electrical wiring leads into the workshop — such as in a garage service, home joinery, or for a tradesman who transports the machine to job sites. A proper electrical installation is a prerequisite; we address this further below.
Configuration of this machine
Why choose this model
Out of the 28 models in the series, only 5 machines run on 230 V, and all are based on this single 2.2 kW platform. You are not buying a hobby construction with an aluminium unit, but the same cast-iron mechanics with a machinable cylinder liner found in higher-class machines — simply scaled down and adapted for a single-phase motor.
Of the 5 models on 230 V, this one has the smallest tank and thus the smallest footprint; smaller only the WK430AP-PLATE unit on a base frame, which has no tank at all. The 50 l capacity and 340 l/min displacement are sufficient for blowing, inflating, staplers, and ratchets — essentially the vast majority of air-related work in a small workshop.
Upon stopping, the valve relieves the cylinder head, allowing the motor to restart without backpressure in the discharge. This is more significant for a single-phase motor than for a three-phase one: every start occurs via a single circuit, and a relieved head means a lower starting current and less strain on the circuit breaker.
The 50 l horizontal tank on wheels with a handle is the smallest setup among the range's compressors with pressure vessels. You can move it across the workshop yourself and plug it in anywhere there is a suitable circuit — making it ideal for a tradesman working alternately between two locations.
Design and technology

Piston, rings and cast-iron liner
The cast-iron cylinder liner and piston rings are standard service parts — the unit can be refurbished after years of use rather than discarded.

Intake filter with steel mesh
The new generation metal insert withstands repeated blowing out with compressed air, whereas a paper insert would tear after a few cleanings.

Head gaskets and valves
The redesigned cylinder head gaskets maintain pressure even after thermal cycles; valve plates are stocked as spare parts.

Inspection on a 3D measuring machine
Key dimensions of the unit are verified on a coordinate measuring machine — this ensures that parts from different series fit together perfectly.

What the data sheet doesn't tell you — calculated values
Values are calculated from manufacturer parameters and serve for comparing models with each other, not as a guaranteed figure.
Who is it for
It is purchased by sole traders or small workshops without a three-phase connection: garage services, home joineries, installation companies, small-scale metal fabrication, or car painters for minor repairs. What they have in common is that they need air several times a day for a few minutes, rather than continuously throughout the entire shift. If you have a constant air demand and the machine would run most of the time, it is more practical to opt for a version with a larger tank or a three-phase design — a single-phase motor is the most strained of the entire range due to repeated starts.
Typical applications
- Blowing off parts, workstations, and filters in a small workshop
- Inflating tyres and filling pneumatic components
- Staplers, nailers, and glue guns during installations
- Pneumatic ratchets and drills during disassembly
- Occasional use of an impact wrench on individual joints
- Cleaning and blowing out water and air circuits
Where to choose a different model
A 50 l tank holds approximately 100 litres of free air at a pressure differential of 2 bar, covering only short peaks. With 100 l on the same unit and the same power supply, the number of starts drops by roughly half — at a consumption of 150 l/min, from approximately 50 to 25 per hour.
View recommended model →The three-phase WK430-3,0/50P version is mechanically the same machine, but it distributes the starting current across three phases. Requirements for a dedicated circuit are eliminated, and the machine will be gentler on the installation. If the distribution board allows the connection, it is the better route.
View recommended model →The vertical VWK430-3,0/90AP also runs on 230 V, has a tank 40 l larger, and takes up roughly half the floor area. At the cost of a higher centre of gravity, which makes it harder to move around.

Inspections may be carried out by an authorised WALTER service centre or by yourself — provided that original parts and fluids are used and proof of purchase is retained.
3 year WALTER warranty

36 months after registration at waltercesko.cz
The warranty is provided by Walter Kompressortechnik Česko s.r.o. (Ostrava). Machine registration extends the warranty to 36 months from the date of purchase; proof of purchase is required to claim the warranty.
- Claim assessment within 14 working days, approved repairs free of charge and completed within 30 days
- After 4 repairs and a further defect, you are entitled to a replacement of the machine with a fault-free one
- You may perform the prescribed inspections yourself — using original parts and providing proof of purchase
Transport and Commissioning
The machine is delivered on a pallet. Before the first start, check the oil level, direction of rotation, and the tightness of connections; after the first 8 hours of operation, tighten the cylinder head bolts to a torque of 25 Nm. Leave the electrical connection to a professional — especially for single-phase machines: they require a dedicated circuit and a circuit breaker with a slow characteristic.
