Product detailed description
WALTER WK430AP-PLATE Cast Iron Compressor Unit - Base Frame, 230 V
The WK430AP-PLATE is the only standalone WALTER unit designed for a standard 230 V / 50 Hz mains supply. The 2V cast-iron twin-cylinder with a power input of 2.2 kW (3 HP) has an intake of 420 l/min, delivers 340 l/min to the distribution system at 10 bar, and runs at 1,276 rpm. It is supplied on a base frame, without a pressure vessel, with v-belt drive; noise level approx. 80 dB(A), 3-year warranty after registration at waltercesko.cz.
The letter A in the code is the only difference from the 400 V version – and in practice, it is a fundamental difference. It opens the way to a cast iron unit for all workshops, construction sites, and garages where a three-phase connection is not available and will not be installed. You handle the vessel, pressure switch, and fusing yourself, and it is especially important not to underestimate the electrical installation with the single-phase version.
Configuration of this machine
Why choose this model
Out of 6 units on a base frame, this is the only single-phase one. A 230 V version does not exist in any of the higher classes, so if you do not have a three-phase connection, this is the ceiling of what can be acquired among WALTER cast iron units.
Typical scenario: an ancient compressor with a 100 l vessel stands in the workshop; the motor and unit have reached the end of their life, but the vessel is fine. A new cast iron unit on a frame will bring your machine back into operation without you having to deal with a new vessel and its inspection – all on the same socket you already have.
According to the manufacturer's data, the single-phase variant has the same parameters as the 400 V version: intake 430, delivery 340 l/min, 1 276 rpm. Voltage therefore does not change how much air you get – it only changes where you connect the machine and how powerful a circuit you need.
On a base frame, an assembly can be built for a trailer, a van, or a portable frame with a small vessel. This is exactly the application where the three-phase version will not help you, because there is simply no three-phase connection on site.
Design and technology

Piston, rings and cast-iron liner
The cast-iron cylinder liner and piston rings are standard service parts — the unit can be refurbished after years of use rather than discarded.

Intake filter with steel mesh
The new generation metal insert withstands repeated blowing out with compressed air, whereas a paper insert would tear after a few cleanings.

Head gaskets and valves
The redesigned cylinder head gaskets maintain pressure even after thermal cycles; valve plates are stocked as spare parts.

Inspection on a 3D measuring machine
Key dimensions of the unit are verified on a coordinate measuring machine — this ensures that parts from different series fit together perfectly.

What the data sheet doesn't tell you — calculated values
Values are calculated from manufacturer parameters and serve for comparing models with each other, not as a guaranteed figure.
Who is it for
It is aimed at craftsmen and smaller operations without a three-phase connection – joineries and garage workshops in residential areas, construction companies with a mobile assembly, and services in rented premises where the electrical installation will not be reworked. It is purchased by those who have a functional vessel or will obtain one and want to turn it into a full-fledged source with a cast iron unit. Those who have a three-phase connection should choose the WK430P-PLATE version – single-phase motors have higher starting requirements.
Typical applications
- Replacement of the unit on an older single-phase compressor with its own vessel
- Mobile assembly on a trailer or in a van where only 230 V is available
- Joinery workshops or garage workshops with no possibility of installing a three-phase power supply
- Installation in a soundproof cabinet with the tank positioned separately
- Backup air source for operations where the main compressor runs on 400 V
- Blowing, ratchet, stapler and light pneumatic tools in intermittent operation
Where to choose a different model
Choose the WK430P-PLATE on 400 V. Same unit, same 340 l/min, but significantly more favourable starting conditions and fewer issues with circuit protection.
View recommended model →The complete single-phase machine with a 100 l tank is the WK430-3,0/100AP – unpack, connect and go. Eliminates the need for tank inspection and interconnection.
View recommended model →There are no 230 V options available above this class. Higher performance requires a three-phase supply – the nearest step is the WK550P-PLATE with 440 l/min on 400 V.

Inspections may be carried out by an authorised WALTER service centre or by yourself — provided that original parts and fluids are used and proof of purchase is retained.
3 year WALTER warranty

36 months after registration at waltercesko.cz
The warranty is provided by Walter Kompressortechnik Česko s.r.o. (Ostrava). Machine registration extends the warranty to 36 months from the date of purchase; proof of purchase is required to claim the warranty.
- Claim assessment within 14 working days, approved repairs free of charge and completed within 30 days
- After 4 repairs and a further defect, you are entitled to a replacement of the machine with a fault-free one
- You may perform the prescribed inspections yourself — using original parts and providing proof of purchase
Transport and Commissioning
The machine is delivered on a pallet. Before the first start, check the oil level, direction of rotation, and the tightness of connections; after the first 8 hours of operation, tighten the cylinder head bolts to a torque of 25 Nm. Leave the electrical connection to a professional — especially for single-phase machines: they require a dedicated circuit and a circuit breaker with a slow characteristic.
