Product detailed description
WALTER HWK1200-10/500P High-Pressure Cast Iron Piston Compressor - 13 Bar
The HWK1200-10/500P is the industrial high-pressure version of the most powerful WALTER platform. The 4V four-cylinder cast iron unit with a power input of 7.5 kW (10 HP) has an intake of 1 120 l/min and delivers 960 l/min to the distribution line at a pressure of 13 bar. Speed 725 min⁻¹, horizontal air receiver 500 l, power supply 400 V / 50 Hz, noise level approx. 80 dB(A), 3-year warranty after registration at waltercesko.cz.
High pressure and high flow rates are combined in only two machines in the range – this one and its 15 bar version. It is suitable for operations with a central distribution system containing at least one technology operating above 10 bar – the rest of the tools can then simply be adjusted via a regulator. Those who do not require high pressure can get 140 l/min more with the ten-bar WK1500-10/500P.
Configuration of this machine
Why choose this model
Approximately 86% of the intake air thus reaches the distribution line. On a large four-cylinder unit with low speeds, losses in the compression chamber are less apparent than in small high-speed units – which is exactly why a large slow-running machine is chosen for industrial demands.
The lowest speed among the ten-bar models is the WK1500 at 768 min⁻¹; this high-pressure four-cylinder unit goes even lower, to 725. Consequently, the piston travels a shorter distance per hour of operation, despite working against higher pressure – this exact compromise makes slow-running cast iron a machine for long cycles.
Above an eight-bar distribution, this tank holds approximately 2 500 l of free air; the same tank on a ten-bar machine holds only 1 000 l. An impulse demand that would immediately start a ten-bar machine is absorbed here by the reserve – the motor switches on significantly less frequently.
Distributing compression across four cylinders means a more uniform torque curve and lower pulsations at the outlet. For a machine of this size, this is not mere cosmetics: smoother operation is transferred to the bearings, the distribution joints, and the stability of the pressure reaching the technology regulator.
Design and technology

Piston, rings and cast-iron liner
The cast-iron cylinder liner and piston rings are standard service parts — the unit can be refurbished after years of use rather than discarded.

Intake filter with steel mesh
The new generation metal insert withstands repeated blowing out with compressed air, whereas a paper insert would tear after a few cleanings.

Head gaskets and valves
The redesigned cylinder head gaskets maintain pressure even after thermal cycles; valve plates are stocked as spare parts.

Inspection on a 3D measuring machine
Key dimensions of the unit are verified on a coordinate measuring machine — this ensures that parts from different series fit together perfectly.
Technical Data HWK1200-10/500P
What the data sheet doesn't tell you — calculated values
Values are calculated from manufacturer parameters and serve for comparing models with each other, not as a guaranteed figure.
Who is it for
Designed for engineering and production halls with a central distribution system, where technology requiring a prescribed pressure of over 10 bar operates alongside standard tools — presses, forming tools, test labs, diaphragm pumps, and certain sandblasting applications. The delivery rate of 960 l/min covers several outlets simultaneously, so you do not have to choose between a "workshop machine" and a "technology machine" — this unit manages both from a single distribution line.
Typical applications
- Central hall distribution featuring at least one piece of technology operating at 12–13 bar
- Pneumatic presses, riveting lines, and forming tools
- Pressure and leak tests for larger assemblies up to 13 bar
- Sandblasting and blasting with higher working pressure
- Concurrent operation of several workstations using standard tools via reduction valves
- Powering long pipeline distributions where pressure loss occurs over the distance
Where to choose a different model
The 10-bar WK1500-10/500P, with the same 7.5 kW input, provides 1,100 l/min instead of 960 and the same 500 l tank. This is the more advantageous choice for purely tool-based operations.
View recommended model →Opt for the 15-bar version HWK1200-10/500P-15P: 900 l/min at 688 rpm, which is only 60 l/min less, but with two bars of extra reserve.
View recommended model →The smaller high-pressure variant HWK700-5,5/270P delivers 500 l/min at 13 bar with a 4.0 kW input — lower requirements for circuit protection and space.

Inspections may be carried out by an authorised WALTER service centre or by yourself — provided that original parts and fluids are used and proof of purchase is retained.
3 year WALTER warranty

36 months after registration at waltercesko.cz
The warranty is provided by Walter Kompressortechnik Česko s.r.o. (Ostrava). Machine registration extends the warranty to 36 months from the date of purchase; proof of purchase is required to claim the warranty.
- Claim assessment within 14 working days, approved repairs free of charge and completed within 30 days
- After 4 repairs and a further defect, you are entitled to a replacement of the machine with a fault-free one
- You may perform the prescribed inspections yourself — using original parts and providing proof of purchase
Transport and Commissioning
The machine is delivered on a pallet. Before the first start, check the oil level, direction of rotation, and the tightness of connections; after the first 8 hours of operation, tighten the cylinder head bolts to a torque of 25 Nm. Leave the electrical connection to a professional — for three-phase machines, it is necessary to verify the correct phase sequence.
