WALTER HWK1200-10/500P High-Pressure Cast Iron Piston Compressor - 13 Bar

The HWK1200-10/500P is the industrial high-pressure version of the most powerful WALTER platform. The 4V four-cylinder cast iron unit with a power input of 7.5 kW (10 HP) has an intake of 1 120 l/min and delivers 960 l/min to the distribution line at a pressure of 13 bar. Speed 725 min⁻¹, horizontal air receiver 500 l, power supply 400 V / 50 Hz, noise level approx. 80 dB(A), 3-year warranty after registration at waltercesko.cz.

High pressure and high flow rates are combined in only two machines in the range – this one and its 15 bar version. It is suitable for operations with a central distribution system containing at least one technology operating above 10 bar – the rest of the tools can then simply be adjusted via a regulator. Those who do not require high pressure can get 140 l/min more with the ten-bar WK1500-10/500P.

From 1 120 l/min intake, 960 l/min goes to the distribution line

Approximately 86% of the intake air thus reaches the distribution line. On a large four-cylinder unit with low speeds, losses in the compression chamber are less apparent than in small high-speed units – which is exactly why a large slow-running machine is chosen for industrial demands.

725 rpm – slower than any ten-bar machine

The lowest speed among the ten-bar models is the WK1500 at 768 min⁻¹; this high-pressure four-cylinder unit goes even lower, to 725. Consequently, the piston travels a shorter distance per hour of operation, despite working against higher pressure – this exact compromise makes slow-running cast iron a machine for long cycles.

500 l at 13 bar lasts two and a half times longer

Above an eight-bar distribution, this tank holds approximately 2 500 l of free air; the same tank on a ten-bar machine holds only 1 000 l. An impulse demand that would immediately start a ten-bar machine is absorbed here by the reserve – the motor switches on significantly less frequently.

Distributing compression across four cylinders means a more uniform torque curve and lower pulsations at the outlet. Transport and Commissioning

The machine is delivered on a pallet. Before the first start, check the oil level, direction of rotation, and the tightness of connections; after the first 8 hours of operation, tighten the cylinder head bolts to a torque of 25 Nm. Leave the electrical connection to a professional — for three-phase machines, it is necessary to verify the correct phase sequence.

Why is the model named HWK1200 when the intake is 1,120 l/min?
For high-pressure HWK models, the number in the code is a nominal designation, not an actual parameter – this also applies to the smaller HWK700, which has an intake of 600 l/min. Please refer to the intake value of 1,120 l/min and the effective delivery of 960 l/min. For the same historical reason, the product URL contains the designation hwk1500.
Can the machine power both 13 bar technology and standard tools simultaneously?
Yes, and this is its typical application. The tank maintains full pressure; you connect the technology directly and other outlets via pressure regulators set to 6 to 8 bar. Simply sum your actual simultaneous continuous demands and compare them with 960 l/min – short-term peaks are balanced by the 500 l tank reserve.
How long does it take to fill a 500 l tank to 13 bar?
Our calculation based on manufacturer parameters indicates approximately 6.8 minutes from zero without consumption; actual filling time is usually slightly longer. A more interesting figure is how rarely the motor switches on during operation – at full pressure, the tank holds a reserve of about 2,500 l of free air above an eight-bar distribution.
What are the electrical installation requirements?
It is a three-phase machine, 400 V / 50 Hz, with a power input of 7.5 kW. The supply and fusing are dimensioned according to the instructions in the machine manual and the cable length; always leave the installation to a qualified electrician. Incorrect connection to the mains is one of the reasons for the voiding of the warranty, so it is not worth guessing.
Does such a machine require an air dryer?
Neither a dryer nor filtration is included in the delivery. For technology sensitive to moisture – pneumatic valves, painting, measuring and testing circuits – add these as separate units after the compressor outlet. For a 500 l tank, always ensure condensate is drained at least once a week.
