WALTER HWK1200-10/500P-15P High-Pressure Cast-Iron Piston Compressor – 15 bar

The HWK1200-10/500P-15P achieves the highest pressure in the entire WALTER range – 15 bar. The 4V four-cylinder cast-iron unit with a power input of 7.5 kW (10 HP) has an intake of 1,060 l/min and delivers 900 l/min to the distribution system at 15 bar. At the same time, it has the lowest RPM of all 28 models – 688 min⁻¹. Air receiver 500 l, power supply 400 V / 50 Hz, noise level approx. 80 dB(A). The machine comes with a 3-year warranty after registration at waltercesko.cz.

The combination of 15 bar and a delivery rate of 900 l/min is unique in the range and is aimed at operations where high pressure is a production requirement, not just a safety margin. If your technology tops out at 13 bar, the HWK1200-10/500P version provides 60 l/min more. If you only need a high volume of air at 10 bar, the WK1500-10/500P is the right choice.

Why choose this model

Lowest RPM in the entire series – 688 min⁻¹

None of the other 28 WALTER models run slower. Compared to the fastest 2.2 kW class (1,276 min⁻¹), the piston ring covers a sliding distance approximately 46% shorter per hour of operation with a comparable piston stroke. This low-speed operation is the reason why this machine can withstand continuous deployment despite the highest pressure.

Largest compressed air reserve in the range

A 500 l tank pressurised to 15 bar has approximately 3,500 l of free air available over an eight-bar distribution system – the most of all models, as it combines the largest tank with the highest pressure. In practice, this means that even a high-demand short-term draw-off is handled by the tank without the motor even starting.

Two extra bar cost 60 l/min

The 13 bar version delivers 960 l/min, while this one delivers 900. Six per cent of the delivery rate is the total price for two extra bar, as the main drop occurred during the transition from 10 to 13 bar.

4V four-cylinder with a 900 l/min delivery rate

900 l/min at 15 bar can power several technologies simultaneously. Distributing compression across four cylinders keeps output pulsations low, which is desirable for pressure and testing applications – the regulator receives a steadier input.

Transport and Commissioning

The machine is delivered on a pallet. Before the first start, check the oil level, direction of rotation, and the tightness of connections; after the first 8 hours of operation, tighten the cylinder head bolts to a torque of 25 Nm. Leave the electrical connection to a professional — for three-phase machines, it is necessary to verify the correct phase sequence.

Frequently asked questions

Is the entire workshop network prepared for 15 bar?
Verify this before installation. Everything between the compressor and the regulation station – piping, valves, hoses, filters, quick couplers, shut-off valves – must be sized for the full tank pressure, not the operating pressure you use. Beyond the pressure reducing valve, components rated for the set value are sufficient. Standard workshop equipment is often only supplied for up to 10 bar.
Why does the machine with the highest pressure have the lowest RPM?
Higher pressure means higher stress on the compression chamber; structurally, this is compensated for by slowing down the unit rather than increasing its speed. Therefore, RPM decreases across the entire range as pressure increases: 768 min⁻¹ at 10 bar, 725 at 13 bar, and 688 at 15 bar. A side effect is the shortest piston ring sliding path in the entire range.
How long does it take to pressurise a 500 l tank to 15 bar?
Our calculation based on manufacturer parameters gives approximately 8.3 minutes from zero without consumption; real filling times tend to be slightly longer. This is the longest time in the entire range, but simply because the tank holds the most air – in operation, it only repressurises between the cut-in and cut-out pressures.
Can I power standard pneumatic tools from it?
Yes, via a pressure reducing valve set to the tool's required pressure. Conversely, for tools, this is the most stable source in the entire range – the network pressure practically does not fluctuate because the reserve in the tank is huge relative to the working value. Just remember that components before the regulation must withstand 15 bar.
Does the high-pressure machine follow the same service schedule?
Yes, the schedule is identical for the entire range: tighten cylinder head bolts to 25 Nm after the first 8 hours, daily oil and connection checks, weekly condensate drainage, monthly filter cleaning, the first oil change after 100 hours, and then at least once every six months. Compliance is even more critical in high-pressure operations.
