15 bar air compressors
Fifteen bar is beyond the limit of a standard single-stage compressor, so every machine here compresses air in two stages. There are three ranges: ABAC Tech ATH with a continuous-duty motor, belt-driven ABAC B59B, B60 and B70, and a cast-iron four-cylinder WALTER. A pressure of 15 bar is needed by machinery and processes for which ten bar is not enough.

Where fifteen bar is used
Typically mobile tyre fitting and on-site servicing, pressure testing of pipes, material cutting, and machines whose pneumatics need more than the usual 6 to 8 bar. What counts is the output at 15 bar, not the intake — that is the air that actually reaches the process. It rises from 180 l/min on the smallest 1.5 kW machine up to 7.5 kW, where the ABAC machines give 702 to 716 l/min and the cast-iron WALTER 900 l/min.

ABAC Tech ATH 15 bar
Eight direct-drive machines with an S1 motor rated for a hundred per cent duty cycle — they may run without a break. Five are on a base frame without a tank, three on a horizontal 90 or 270 l air tank. Full details are on the range page ABAC Tech ATH 15 bar.
ABAC B59B, B60 and B70 at 15 bar
Belt-driven two-stage pumps: the B59B on a wheeled 90 l tank for mobile tyre fitting, the B60 and B70 on a five-hundred-litre air tank. Compared with the 11 bar versions they run at lower speed and have a tank with a thicker wall — see the range ABAC B59B, B60 and B70 at 15 bar.
WALTER HWK1200
A cast-iron four-cylinder machine with 7.5 kW on a 500 l tank and an output of 900 l/min — the most air at fifteen bar. Four-cylinder machines are grouped under four-cylinder air compressors.
Tank and pipework for 15 bar
A base-mounted machine needs its own tank certified for fifteen bar — an ordinary 11 bar air tank cannot be connected. Hoses, couplings and fittings must also be rated for the pressure. Frequently asked questions
- Can I connect a 15 bar compressor to my existing tank?
- Only if the tank is designed and inspected for at least 15 bar. Standard workshop compressor tanks are rated at 11 bar.
- Does a 15 bar compressor give less air than a 10 bar one?
- For the same motor power, yes — higher pressure takes more work. That is why you choose by the output at 15 bar, which is stated for every machine.
- Are there 15 bar compressors for 230 V?
- No. All 15 bar machines need a three-phase 400 V supply, even the smallest with 1.5 kW.
