Piston compressors ABAC Line — direct drive from an ordinary socket
5 ranges · 230 V · 1.1–2.2 kWLine is the ABAC range for the tradesman, the DIYer and the smaller workshop: direct-drive piston compressors that run from an ordinary 230 V socket, from a suitcase you lift with one hand to a V-twin that keeps up with an impact wrench and a sander. Five ranges, seventeen machines, 1.1 to 2.2 kW and 160 to 355 l/min air displacement. All of them are built for pauses between cycles; where they differ is how much air the tool takes, for how long, and where you will be carrying the machine.
Four questions that decide
You do not choose by tank litres or by kilowatts, but by the tools you will hang on the compressor — and by where you will be carrying it.
Does the tool take air in bursts, or all the time?
A tyre inflator, a blow gun, a stapler and a brad nailer for mouldings work in short bursts: 160 to 220 l/min and a small tank will do (SUITCASE, L20N). An impact wrench and short spraying jobs already want 270 to 310 l/min and a fifty-litre tank (L25P, L30P). A spray gun and a random orbital sander draw air without a break — for those you need a V-twin (V36, V30).
How long at a stretch?
The high-speed single-cylinder L20N, L25P and L30P and the V-twin V36 all need a pause between cycles: the L20N may run for no more than three minutes in ten, the V36 five. The low-speed V30 at 1,450 rpm is for the workshop where the compressor is switched on in the morning and off in the evening. A machine that runs a whole shift without a pause is not in the Line range — that is a job for a screw compressor.
How will you carry it?
The SUITCASE at 5 or 10 kg goes up the stairs in one hand. The L20N six at 14 kg by the handle on the cover. The twenty-fours at 25 to 29 kg are a one-person lift into the van; the fifties from the L20N to the V36 (33 to 42 kg) are better lifted by two. Nobody carries the nineties or the V30 (43 to 72 kg) at all — they roll on wheels, round the workshop and across the site.
With oil, or without?
The SUITCASE is oil-free: nothing to top up and no oil in the air, but it is a machine for short jobs at 160 l/min. All the other ranges have an oil-lubricated pump — it copes with longer work and more frequent cycling, in return for the odd glance at the sight glass and an oil change now and then. For inflating, stapling and blowing off it makes no difference which; for everyday work, oil.
Ranges for tools that take air in bursts
Three ranges for the tradesman with a van and for the home workshop: they differ in the pump, the reserve of air in the tank and what you can still lift.
ABAC SUITCASE
When you carry the compressor up the stairs in one hand. An oil-free suitcase with 1.1 kW and 160 l/min: the SU-1.1-PM without a tank weighs 5 kg, the SU-1.1-6PM with six litres 10 kg. For inflating, stapling and blowing off at the customer's; 8 bar.

ABAC L20N
When you want an oil-lubricated machine you can still lift. The single-cylinder L20 pump with 1.5 kW and 220 l/min on three tanks: a portable six at 14 kg with a handle on the cover (8 bar), a twenty-four at 25 kg and a fifty at 33 kg on wheels (10 bar). Nailer, stapler, tyre inflator, ratchet wrench.

ABAC L25P and L30P
When an impact wrench and the odd spray gun join the nailer. Two single-cylinder pumps: the L25P (1.8 kW / 270 l/min) on 24 and 50 l tanks, the L30P (2.2 kW / 310 l/min) on 24, 50 and 90 l and in a compact 20 l frame; 28 to 63 kg, 10 bar. The widest choice in the range — six versions in stock.

Same output, half the speed
Two machines with the same 2.2 kW motor output and the same pump layout — two cylinders in a V; the difference is the speed. The V36 turns 2,850 times a minute and draws in 355 l/min: it is lighter (42 kg), costs less and is in stock. The V30 turns 1,450 times a minute and draws in 330 l/min: over a shift the pistons travel half the distance and the valves close half as many times; the machine is heavier and is supplied to order.
What decides is the number of hours a day: if you fire up the impact wrench and the sander a few times a shift, take the V36; if the compressor sits under the bench from seven till four, take the V30. Both take the same oil and the same DN 7.2 quick coupling.
Ranges for tools that take air all the time
Two V-twins with the same 2.2 kW motor output — they differ in speed, and from that follow the air displacement, the weight, the price and whether the machine is in stock.
ABAC V36
When one machine has to keep up with an impact wrench, a sander and a spray gun. A V-twin with 2.2 kW on a fifty-litre tank with two wheels, 42 kg. It gives 355 l/min — the most you will get from an ordinary socket anywhere in the Line range. It may run for five minutes in ten. In stock.

When the compressor cycles from morning till evening. Also a V-twin, but at half the speed, 1,450 rpm: 330 l/min and fewer piston and valve cycles per shift. Five tanks from 20 l in a frame to 90 l, including a vertical fifty and twin 2 × 11 l tanks; 43 to 72 kg, available to order.

Air displacement is the amount of air the pump draws in per minute; less of it reaches the tool. Weight is the span from the lightest to the heaviest machine in the range. What all the ranges have in common is summed up in the cards below the table.
What all the Line ranges have in common
Direct drive
The pump sits directly on the motor, with no belt and no pulley — nothing to tension, nothing to replace. That is why the machines are light and maintenance comes down to oil (on the oil-lubricated ones) and condensate.
Single-phase motor
All seventeen machines run from an ordinary 230 V socket, with motors of 1.1 to 2.2 kW. Starting needs a short, heavy-gauge lead and ideally a circuit of its own; on a long, thin extension lead the breaker will trip.
The same panel
On every machine with a tank you find the same thing: a pressure switch that cuts out at the set pressure and cuts back in when it drops, a regulator for the tool, a tank gauge and an outlet gauge, a DN 7.2 quick coupling. Only the suitcase without a tank has a single button instead of a panel. Hoses and guns from our range fit them all.
Intermittent duty
Every Line machine works in cycles: it fills the tank, cuts out, cools down and cuts back in when the pressure drops. The bigger the tank, the longer the pause between two runs — which is why the same pump is sold on several tanks.
Service and warranty
We give two years' warranty on the machines and ten years on the tank against rusting through. Every machine carries its own maintenance guides — scan the QR code on the machine with the AirTube app. The Atlas Copco group stands behind the brand; repairs in and out of warranty are done in our own workshop.
Ventilek advises
In the Line range you do not pick the strongest machine, but the one you can carry to where the work is. The suitcase for the stairs, the six for the boot of the car, the twenty-four for the van, the fifty for the garage, the ninety under the bench. The air is then down to the pump: if you are not sure, look at which of your tools draws air for the longest stretch at a time — that tells you whether it is a single cylinder or a V-twin.

- Which ABAC Line range is for me?
- It depends on the tools and on where you will be carrying the machine. Inflating, stapling and blowing off at the customer's: the SUITCASE or the L20N six. A nailer and a ratchet wrench in the workshop and in the van: the L20N with 24 or 50 l. An impact wrench and short spraying jobs: the L25P or the L30P. A sander and a spray gun: the V-twin V36; if the compressor has to cycle from morning till evening, the low-speed V30. The table above compares all five ranges in one place.
- How does ABAC Line differ from the PRO, Silent and Zero ranges?
- Line machines have direct drive, run from an ordinary socket and are built for work with breaks. The PRO range is driven by a V-belt, with a choice of single- or two-stage pump and an aftercooler for heavy use; the Silent range has a sound-insulated enclosure, so you work at 61 dB instead of the usual 93 to 97 dB; the Zero range consists of oil-free belt-driven machines for air without a drop of oil.
- Is Line a range for the tradesman, or for the DIYer?
- For both — what decides is not a trade licence, but how many hours a day the machine runs. The range is built for the keen DIYer and the smaller trade business: a floor layer with a stapler, a fitter with a ratchet wrench, a DIYer with a tyre inflator in the garage. If you sand and spray for most of the shift, look to the PRO range or to a screw compressor.
- Which Line range is enough for a spray gun?
- For smaller areas — a cupboard door, a bike frame, a piece of furniture — the L25P or the L30P with a fifty, better still the L30P with a ninety, or the V-twin V36; if you spray every day, take the low-speed V30. A spray gun draws air without a break: the SUITCASE with six litres only manages a small job with pauses to build the pressure back up, and the L20N is not for spraying. - Which Line range is oil-free?
- The only oil-free machine in the Line range is the SUITCASE — for inflating, blowing off and stapling at the customer's. The L20N, L25P, L30P, V36 and V30 all have an oil-lubricated pump that copes with longer work; with it come a sight glass, an oil change now and then and condensate, which you drain after work through the valve under the tank. If you want a stronger oil-free machine, you will find it in the ABAC Zero range.
- What is in stock and what is supplied to order?
- We keep the SUITCASE models, all three L20N, the six L25P and L30P machines and the V-twin V36 in stock. The low-speed V30 is supplied to order; the usual delivery time is shown against each machine. Stock levels change daily and are always up to date on the product page.
Where next if Line is not the right fit
Line is the ABAC range for work with breaks, from an ordinary socket. If you need a machine for heavier use, a sound-insulated enclosure or, at the other end, just the odd job at home for less money, the alternatives are just below.
