Which Expert Zero — pump, tank, socket
You choose three times: how much air the pump should deliver, how much of it the tank should hold and which socket the machine will run from. All of them are oil-free.
The A29B0 pump with 1.5 or 2.2 kW: 255 and 320 l/min
The smaller pump in the range. With a 1.5 kW motor it draws in 255 l/min at 1,075 rpm and is the quietest in the range (95 dB Lwa, 75 dB at 4 m); with 2.2 kW it gives 320 l/min at 1,300 rpm. For a spray gun, blowing off, tightening and stapling in an upholstery shop, a small paint shop or a garage. Tanks of 50, 90, 150 and 200 l.
The A39B0 pump with 2.2 or 3 kW: 393 and 486 l/min
The bigger pump in the range: with 2.2 kW it gives 393 l/min at the lowest speed in the whole range (1,050 rpm), with 3 kW on 400 V it gives 486 l/min. For when several people draw air at once, or a gun or a sander runs for longer at a stretch. Tanks of 90, 150, 200 and 270 l; the 3 kW only on 400 V.
Tank and socket: 50 to 270 l, CM = 230 V, CT = 400 V
The tank does not add displacement, but it gives the pump its pauses: 50 l for a gun and tools used in bursts, 90 l for one workstation, 150 and 200 l for longer spraying, 270 l as a reserve for the whole shop. The code CM means a single-phase motor for an ordinary 230 V socket, CT a three-phase motor on 400 V — the same pump, the same air, a different socket.

230 V (CM) or 400 V (CT)?
Every tank in the range comes in both versions; the 3 kW motor only on 400 V. Pump, displacement and pressure are the same — what decides is the socket you have on the premises.
CM — single-phase motor for a 230 V socket
Ten machines from 50 to 270 l. An ordinary socket will do, and the machine moves between the workshop, the garage and the job without an electrician. A single-phase 1.5 or 2.2 kW motor wants a short heavy-gauge lead and, if possible, a circuit of its own, so that start-up does not trip the breaker.
CT — three-phase motor on 400 V
The other ten machines from 50 to 270 l, including both 3 kW models with 486 l/min. A three-phase motor is the choice for premises with a 400 V supply: a paint shop, a production floor, a garage. The electrician sorts the supply once and the machine runs off the same mains as the other machinery in the hall.
The same air, the same cost of oil — none
CM and CT of the same model have the same pump, displacement, pressure and tank. The difference is the motor and the cable. If you are not sure which socket you have at the machine, take the CM; if you have 400 V at the workstation, take the CT — and with the 3 kW there is no other option.
Oil-free pump with V-belts — what is inside
The oil-free A29B0 and A39B0 pumps
Single-stage piston pumps with Teflon-coated cylinders: the pistons need no oil charge, there is no oil mist in the air and no oily condensate collects in the tank. Nothing to top up, change or dispose of. The A29B0 draws in 255 or 320 l/min, the A39B0 393 or 486 l/min — depending on the motor.
V-belts and 1,050 to 1,300 rpm
The motor drives the pump through a pulley and V-belts, so the pistons run at 1,075, 1,300 or 1,050 rpm — slower than high-speed direct-drive pumps, which turn with the motor. The belt is a part you replace without opening up the pump. The belt guard is shaped to guide the cooling air over the pump.
Aftercooler and a clean outlet
Behind the pump sits an aftercooler: the compressed air is cooled before it enters the tank, and the moisture drops out as condensate that you drain through a ball valve. On the outlet there is a filter-regulator with a gauge and a DN 7.2 quick coupling — you set the pressure for the tool and the filter catches whatever would spoil paint or upholstery.
Tank on wheels, 40 to 121 kg
A horizontal 50 to 270 l tank on two front swivel castors with brakes and two fixed wheels at the rear; a closed handle with a rubber grip steers the machine round the workshop. The pressure switch starts and stops the motor according to pressure, and the motor has thermal overload protection. A QR code on the tank opens service videos in the AirTube app.

Where the Expert Zero works
Where oil in the air spoils the job
The painter and the upholsterer: oil mist in paint makes craters, and on upholstery it leaves stains that only show up at the customer's. An oil-free machine with a filter-regulator on the outlet rules that source of error out; for a spray gun take 150 or 200 l, for two workstations 270 l.
Where oil in the air is not allowed
Food production, catering, a microbrewery or a packing line: the air touches the product or the packaging. The Expert Zero gives air without oil and without oily condensate in the tank; anyone dispensing beer or blowing out packaging adds air treatment behind the machine to suit their operation.
Garages and air tools
Impact wrench, ratchet, sander and blowing off: the A39B0 with 393 or 486 l/min and a 200 or 270 l tank gives a reserve for several people at once and protects expensive tools from the oil that would build up inside them. The machine stands in one place by the 400 V supply, or travels round the hall on its castors.

Oil you never pour into the machine can never end up in the paint, the upholstery or the beer — that is what the Expert Zero is about. The belt drive and the tank on wheels are familiar from the oil-lubricated PRO Line; here the pump needs no oil. You pay more than for an oil-lubricated machine, but there is no topping up, no changes, no disposal and, above all, no ruined job because of oil mist. If you have 400 V at the workstation, take the CT; if you want quiet, look at the Super Silent OS — this range runs at 95 to 97 dB Lwa and 75 to 77 dB at 4 m and belongs on the shop floor, not in a flat.

- Oil-lubricated or oil-free — when does the Expert Zero pay off?
- When oil in the air threatens the product or the tools: paint, upholstery, food, packaging, expensive air tools. The Expert Zero costs more than an oil-lubricated machine of the same build, but it needs no oil, no changes and no disposal, and it produces no oily condensate. If you sand, tighten and blow off in a workshop where a trace of oil does not matter, the oil-lubricated PRO Line will do. - What does oil-free mean on the Expert Zero, and how long does the pump last?
- The cylinders of the pump are Teflon-coated, so the pistons run without an oil charge; no oil mist gets into the air and there is no oily condensate in the tank. The pump is single-stage with V-belt drive, runs at 1,050 to 1,300 rpm and is followed by an aftercooler that brings the air temperature down before the tank. How long the pump lasts is decided by the duty, not by oil: a piston machine needs pauses between cycles and maintenance, which here comes down to draining the condensate, cleaning the intake filter and checking the belts. The warranty is 2 years on the machine and 10 years on the tank against rusting through.
- 230 V (CM) or 400 V (CT) — which model to choose?
- By the socket at the workstation. CM is a single-phase 1.5 or 2.2 kW motor for an ordinary 230 V socket — the machine moves without an electrician. CT is a three-phase motor on 400 V for premises with a three-phase supply; both 3 kW models exist only as CT. Pump, displacement, pressure and tank are the same within a CM/CT pair. Single-phase machines from other brands are among 230 V compressors.
- Which tank: 50, 90, 150, 200 or 270 l?
- The tank does not add displacement, but it decides how long the tools can draw air before the pump cuts in. The fifty is enough for a gun with a short draw, blowing off and tightening; 90 l is the middle ground for one person; 150 and 200 l hold a reserve for longer spraying or two workstations; 270 l is a reserve for premises where several people draw air. The 150 l machines of other brands are among compressors with a 150 l tank.
- Is the Expert Zero enough for a spray gun and painting?
- For a spray gun, yes — with 1.5 kW and 255 l/min for short spraying of parts, with 2.2 and 3 kW and 320 to 486 l/min for surfaces; air without oil is an advantage for paint, because there is no oil mist in it. For a paint shop take 150 l or more and put water and dirt filtration behind the machine; how much air each gun takes and what else you need for painting is explained in our article on painting with a compressor.
- Is it suitable for food production, catering or dispensing beer?
- Yes — air without oil is the foundation that food production builds on; depending on the operation, filtration and drying are added behind the machine. Special rules apply to beer dispensing, and they are summed up in our article on compressors for dispensing beer.
- Why does the Expert Zero have V-belts, and what do 1,050 to 1,300 rpm mean?
- The belts let the pump run slower than the motor: the A29B0 at 1,075 or 1,300 rpm, the A39B0 at 1,050 or 1,300. The pistons and valves of a slower-running pump do fewer cycles per shift; the belt is a part that, after years, is replaced without opening up the pump. The belt guard guides the cooling air over the pump, and behind it the aftercooler does its work.
- How loud is the Expert Zero?
- The machines with 1.5 kW have 95 dB Lwa and 75 dB at 4 m, with 2.2 kW 96 / 76, with 3 kW 97 / 77. That is the noise of a belt-driven machine for the shop floor, not for a flat; if you need to work in quiet, ABAC has the Super Silent OS range with 83 to 85 dB Lwa and 63 to 65 dB at 4 m. On the premises, stand the machine on a level floor and not in a corner — reflected noise adds decibels.
- How does the Expert Zero differ from the oil-lubricated PRO Line?
- A related build — an A29 or A39 pump with V-belts on a horizontal tank with castors — but the Expert Zero pump is oil-free. The PRO Line is cheaper and suits places where a trace of oil in the air does not matter; the Expert Zero suits places where oil in paint, upholstery or food would ruin the job. The codes A29B0P and A39B0P denote the oil-free pumps, A29B and A39B the oil-lubricated ones.
- When does oil-free pay off over oil-lubricated in a garage or an upholstery shop?
- When the air goes into tools that oil clogs up, or onto a product that oil must not stay on: in a garage, blowing off and painting details; in an upholstery shop, stapling and spraying adhesive. Mobile machines of all brands, oil-lubricated and oil-free, can be compared among mobile piston compressors; the Expert Zero is the only belt-driven oil-free ABAC range among them.
All values apply to a 50 Hz supply. Air displacement is the amount of air the pump draws in; how much of it reaches the tool depends on the pressure and the tank. Noise is given as the sound power level Lwa and the sound pressure at 4 m from the machine. A piston compressor works in cycles (topping up the tank and pausing), not continuously. The machines are to order with delivery within 14 days.
