Product detailed description
WALTER HWK700-5.5/270P-15P High-Pressure Cast Iron Piston Compressor - 15 Bar
The HWK700-5.5/270P-15P achieves the highest pressure in the entire WALTER range – 15 bar. The 2V cast iron twin-cylinder with a power input of 4.0 kW (5.5 HP) has an intake of 560 l/min and delivers 470 l/min to the distribution system. Pump speed 776 min⁻¹, 270 l horizontal air receiver, 400 V / 50 Hz power supply, noise level approx. 80 dB(A), 3 years warranty upon registration at waltercesko.cz.
15 bar is redundant in a standard workshop. It makes sense where technology operates at 12 to 13 bar and requires a reserve above its operating pressure, or where testing and pressurising are conducted at values that a ten-bar or thirteen-bar machine cannot reach. The highest pressure in the range comes at a cost of performance: compared to the ten-bar version on the same motor, you lose 80 l/min.
Configuration of this machine
Why choose this model
15 bar is the ceiling of the entire range and is achieved by only two machines. If you have technology with a working pressure around 13 bar, this is the only variant in the 4.0 kW class that leaves you a reserve for the regulator drop and distribution losses.
Above an eight-bar distribution, this receiver has approximately 1 890 l of free air available, which is more than triple what the same receiver provides on a ten-bar machine (540 l). Therefore, if you need to cover short but high-demand draws, you do not need to buy a larger machine – higher pressure is sufficient.
The higher the pressure, the slower the pump runs: 993 min⁻¹ at 10 bar, 817 at 13 bar, and 776 at 15 bar. The cast iron twin-cylinder with a large bore thus operates in the quietest mode offered by this platform, and the piston ring slide path per hour of operation is the shortest of all three 4.0 kW class versions.
The 13 bar version delivers 500 l/min; this one delivers 470. Therefore, if your technology truly requires 15 bar, you pay almost no additional performance penalty compared to the thirteen-bar version – the entire performance drop occurred during the transition from 10 to 13 bar.
Design and technology

Piston, rings and cast-iron liner
The cast-iron cylinder liner and piston rings are standard service parts — the unit can be refurbished after years of use rather than discarded.

Intake filter with steel mesh
The new generation metal insert withstands repeated blowing out with compressed air, whereas a paper insert would tear after a few cleanings.

Head gaskets and valves
The redesigned cylinder head gaskets maintain pressure even after thermal cycles; valve plates are stocked as spare parts.

Inspection on a 3D measuring machine
Key dimensions of the unit are verified on a coordinate measuring machine — this ensures that parts from different series fit together perfectly.

What the data sheet doesn't tell you — calculated values
Values are calculated from manufacturer parameters and serve for comparing models with each other, not as a guaranteed figure.
Who is it for
Suitable for facilities with testing laboratories or pressure technology: production and testing of hydraulic and pneumatic components, pressure testing of hoses and fittings, and specialised pressing and forming tools. Typically purchased by companies that know exactly what pressure their machinery requires and have distribution lines, hoses and fittings rated for over 10 bar. It is a poor choice for a workshop using impact wrenches and painting equipment.
Typical applications
- Pressure and leak tests up to 15 bar
- Testing and trial rigs for hoses, fittings and pressure components
- Technologies with an operating pressure of 12–13 bar that require a margin above the working value
- Pneumatic presses and forming tools with a higher prescribed pressure
- Feeding long distribution lines where several bars are lost during transit to the point of consumption
- Standard tools via a pressure regulator – with a significantly larger reserve between motor starts
Where to choose a different model
Go for the HWK700-5,5/270P. You will get 30 l/min more air and won't have to worry whether the distribution line and fittings can handle 15 bar.
View recommended model →The ten-bar WK650-5,5/270P on the same motor delivers 550 l/min – 80 l/min more than this machine. For impact wrenches, grinders and painting, this is clearly the better choice.
View recommended model →The industrial 15-bar variant is the HWK1200-10/500P-15P: four-cylinder 7.5 kW, 900 l/min and a 500 l tank.

Inspections may be carried out by an authorised WALTER service centre or by yourself — provided that original parts and fluids are used and proof of purchase is retained.
3 year WALTER warranty

36 months after registration at waltercesko.cz
The warranty is provided by Walter Kompressortechnik Česko s.r.o. (Ostrava). Machine registration extends the warranty to 36 months from the date of purchase; proof of purchase is required to claim the warranty.
- Claim assessment within 14 working days, approved repairs free of charge and completed within 30 days
- After 4 repairs and a further defect, you are entitled to a replacement of the machine with a fault-free one
- You may perform the prescribed inspections yourself — using original parts and providing proof of purchase
Transport and Commissioning
The machine is delivered on a pallet. Before the first start, check the oil level, direction of rotation, and the tightness of connections; after the first 8 hours of operation, tighten the cylinder head bolts to a torque of 25 Nm. Leave the electrical connection to a professional — for three-phase machines, it is necessary to verify the correct phase sequence.
