The five-litre pack of synthetic Altair Ultra — the highest range ABAC makes for piston compressors. The manufacturer lists it for industrial piston and screw machines in continuous duty. The canister matches the capacity of the largest piston compressors, so a change is done from one pack.
What to expect from a synthetic
A synthetic base has higher thermal and oxidation stability than a mineral one. In practice that means less carbon on the discharge, a cleaner check valve, and a longer interval than mineral oil would take in the same conditions.
It shows most where the machine never properly cools: continuous duty, a hot compressor room, heavy loading. On a compressor running a few hours a day it would be money thrown away.

How many changes it covers
One canister fills a whole B79 or BV89 (5.111 l) with some left for topping up. A B70 (4.000 l) also takes one. For screw machines the capacity is in the compressor manual.
How it differs from its siblings
The same oil in a one-litre bottle for topping up is ALTU-1. If the machine does not run continuously, the mineral ALT150-5 is enough; at high temperature without industrial loading, ALTPL-5.

Set aside time for moving from mineral to synthetic. Drain, flush, change the filters and only then fill — otherwise the two meet in the crankcase.
Technical data follow the supplier’s datasheet and the manufacturer’s documentation. The change interval applies at normal temperature and humidity and in a dust-free environment. Oil is drained warm, with the machine shut down and depressurised.
