Why at this rating in particular
The stronger the motor, the bigger the current surge on a direct start. At seven and a half kilowatts that is often the reason a breaker trips or the workshop lights flicker when the compressor starts. The star connection softens the surge and switches to delta once the motor is up to speed.
Everything else is identical to the version without the X: the same pump at 1,150 rpm, 1,070 l/min, 88 dB Lwa and 253 kg. Against the open version at 7.5 kW that is fourteen decibels less.

The values apply to a 400 V / 50 Hz supply. Intake is the volume of air the pump draws in. Noise is given as the sound power level Lwa and as sound pressure at 4 m from the machine. A piston compressor works in cycles, not without a break.

At seven and a half kilowatts I would take the star-delta start as a matter of course. The difference in price pays for itself the first winter you are not dealing with a tripped breaker.
