Pressure vessels and air receivers 720 l

720 l pressure vessels and air receivers: three 11-bar vessels and two fittings kits. The stand-alone vertical and horizontal vessels are made painted, galvanised and with the ALM internal coating, the fully equipped vertical one painted or galvanised.
A volume of 720 l is the largest in the 100 to 720 l category and also the largest made to Directive 2014/29/EU on simple pressure vessels (SPVD). From 1000 l, vessels for compressed air are made to Directive 2014/68/EU (PED), the standard ones for 12 or 16 bar. The whole range of volumes is shown on the main page for pressure vessels and air receivers.
720 l air receivers and kits for them
Five items, all for compressed air and a working pressure of 11 bar. They differ in design, finish and whether the vessel arrives with fittings.
| Pressure vessels and fittings kits 720 l | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vessel or kit | Design | Finish | Working pressure | Medium | Category |
| Horizontal pressure vessel 720 l - 11 bar | horizontal with feet | paint, hot-dip zinc or ALM | 11 bar | air | Vessels from 100 to 720 l |
| Vertical pressure vessel 720 l - 11 bar | vertical | paint, hot-dip zinc or ALM | 11 bar | air | Vessels from 100 to 720 l |

| Kit for painted pressure vessel KVP720-11 | — | paint | — | — | Fittings kits and hoses |
The stand-alone vertical and horizontal vessels come in paint, hot-dip zinc or with the ALM internal coating. The fully equipped one is painted or galvanised only; fully equipped vessels are not supplied with the ALM coating.

Vertical, horizontal or fully equipped 720 l vessel
The vertical VVP2-720-11 is the largest vertical vessel in the category and has wide main connections for large-diameter pipework. The horizontal one gains its volume from a larger diameter, so it is shorter than the horizontal 500 l vessel and fits even into a compressor room with little space lengthways.
The fully equipped VVP2-720-11A is wide and low, lower than the fully equipped 500 l vessel, and suits rooms with a lower ceiling. The valves on its sides make it wider, though, so measure the doorways and the corridor you will move it through.
All three serve as the main air receiver in production downstream of a larger screw compressor or several compressors on a shared air network, where the large volume keeps the pressure stable even when several consumers draw air at once. You can check whether 720 l is the right size for your operation with our advice centre on choosing an air receiver.

KVP720-11 and KVG720-11 fittings kits
The stand-alone vertical 720 l vessel takes the KVP720-11 kit (painted) or KVG720-11 (galvanised). For this size, both kits have exactly the same parts: a safety valve set to 10.5 bar, a pressure gauge with a test cock, two ball valves, a condensate drain valve and the mounting hardware. The condensate drain valve is larger than in the kits for 500 l, so it drains the condensate faster.
The fully equipped vessel has the same fittings already mounted and comes with TÜV certification of the pressure assembly. Both are for compressors that cut out at no more than 10 bar; for the horizontal vessel, the fittings are chosen individually.

Compressors above 10 bar and other types of vessel
The 720 l volume is not made for 16 bar. For a compressor that cuts out at 13 or 15 bar, choose a 500 l or a 1000 l vessel for 16 bar; you will find them all on the page for 16-bar pressure vessels.
Stainless steel, vacuum, high-pressure and oxygen vessels are not made in a volume of 720 l. You will find them among the neighbouring volumes of 500 and 1000 l.
The 720 l vessels bear the CE marking under the SPVD, and they come with a declaration of conformity and instructions for use and maintenance. The types of inspection and their intervals are set by national regulations; they are discussed in detail in our article on operator obligations.

Ventilek’s tip
Big vessel, lots of condensate. More of it collects in seven hundred litres, and manual draining is easily neglected. An automatic condensate drain on the bottom connection takes care of it by itself.
- Is the 720 l air receiver also made for 16 bar?
- No, only for 11 bar. For a compressor rated at 13 or 15 bar, choose a 500 l or 1000 l vessel for 16 bar.
- Which fittings kit for a 720 l vessel?
- KVP720-11 for the painted and KVG720-11 for the galvanised vertical vessel. For this size, both kits have the same parts.
- Why is the horizontal 720 l vessel shorter than the 500 l one?
- It gains its volume from a larger diameter. That is why it fits even where there is little space lengthways in the compressor room.
- Is the fully equipped 720 l vessel also made with the ALM coating?
- No, fully equipped vessels are supplied painted or galvanised only. The ALM coating is found on the stand-alone vertical and horizontal vessels.
- Is one 720 l vessel enough for several compressors?
- Yes, it serves as the main air receiver even downstream of several compressors on a shared air network. All of them must cut out at no more than 10 bar.
