24 litre air compressors
Twenty-four litres is the smallest tank that comes on wheels and is pulled around the workshop by its handle. These machines plug into a standard 230 V socket, weigh 22 to 36 kg and supply 94 to 192 litres of air per minute. One machine has a petrol engine instead of an electric motor and works even where there is no socket.

Where 24 l makes sense
It holds four times as much air as the six-litre portable air compressors. For a nail gun, inflating tyres or briefly tightening wheel nuts with an impact wrench, the compressor copes as long as it can rest between uses. Continuous work — sanding, spray painting — soon outlasts even 24 litres, though; there the air output is what counts, and it pays to go for a 50 litre air compressor.
If you are after just a tank of this size, say as extra storage for an existing compressor, we also offer a separate 24 l air tank.
How the machines differ
Oil-lubricated single-cylinder machines
Four electric machines have a single cylinder and an oil fill: the Black Wind range and ABAC Line. They are the lightest; the motor turns at 2,850 rpm, so they need breaks to cool down. The most air among them, 186 l/min, comes from the ABAC L30PN-2,2-24CM with 2.2 kW.
Oil-free machines
Three machines run without oil: the single-cylinder Black Wind BO-1,5-24CM, the soundproofed twin-cylinder ABAC OS20P and the ABAC Tech ATFS-2,2-24CM with a continuous-duty motor, which gives the most air of all — 192 l/min. They suit places where there must be no oil mist in the hose. Built the same way, and also with larger tanks, are the oil-free ABAC Tech ATFS machines.
Petrol engine
The Engine Air EA5-3,5-24CP has a petrol engine and a belt drive; it suits building sites or a holiday cabin with no electricity. At 60 kg it is the heaviest of them all.
Small tank, same pressure
Most 24 l machines reach 10 bar, just like large workshop compressors; the difference is how long they can hold it. With a tool that uses more air than the machine supplies, the pressure in a small tank drops quickly and the compressor runs almost non-stop. The whole range of sizes can be compared under air compressors.
Frequently asked questions
- Is a 24 l compressor enough for a tyre shop?
- For the occasional wheel change at home, yes. For a tyre shop where the impact wrench runs all day it is too small — choose a belt-driven machine with a tank of 90 l or more.
- Can I connect a blow gun to a 24 l compressor?
- Yes, short bursts of blowing are no problem. With prolonged blowing, though, the compressor will run without a break.
- Is a 24 l compressor oil-lubricated or oil-free?
- Both. Four electric single-cylinder machines and the petrol unit use oil; three machines are oil-free — Black Wind BO, ABAC OS20P and ABAC Tech ATFS.
