B60 · dryer +3 °C · 500 l · 827 l/min · direct-on-line startThe middle pump of the range with a direct-on-line start on the 500. The B60-5.5-500FTD puts 827 l/min from the cast-iron two-stage B60 pump with a 5.5 kW motor into a 500 l tank at 11 bar; the refrigerant dryer on the tank brings the moisture down to a pressure dew point of +3 °C. It starts without a starter panel, straight from the pressure switch; noise 102 dB Lwa and 82 dB at 4 m from the machine. A machine for a paint shop with a booth or a body shop where the air runs through pipework to several workstations and water must be kept out of it.
Why the B60 with a direct-on-line start
The B60 pump gives you 174 l/min more than the B59B — a reserve for the grinder that takes turns with the gun by the booth. The 5.5 kW motor is started directly by the pressure switch: no extra starter panel, but the supply has to cope with the starting current of the motor; if your breaker is on the limit or the machine starts often, take the B60 pump with a star-delta start on the 270 l tank, or the B70 pump on the 500. The dryer downstream of the 500 l tank sends air into the pipework from which no water condenses out even over a long pipe run to the workstations. You still need a regulator with a filter upstream of the gun for oil and the last of the dirt.

Values apply to a 400 V / 50 Hz supply. Air intake is the amount of air the pump draws in; how much of it reaches the tool depends on the pressure and the tank. Noise is given as the sound power level Lwa and the sound pressure at 4 m from the machine. The pressure dew point of +3 °C applies at the working pressure of the machine. A piston compressor works in cycles (topping up the tank and pausing), not continuously.
