The B60-5.5-270FTXD puts 827 l/min from the B60 pump with a 5.5 kW motor into a 270 l tank at 11 bar, the dryer on the tank dries the air to +3 °C and the starter panel starts the motor in star with a lower current. At 4 m from the machine you measure 82 dB; the sound power level is 102 dB Lwa. For a body shop or a workshop where the air is drawn in bursts, the machine starts often and the supply has no headroom for a direct-on-line start.
Why star-delta with the smaller tank
A smaller tank means more frequent starts: 270 l at 11 bar runs down faster with a grinder and a riveter than the 500, and the 5.5 kW motor cuts in many times an hour. The starter panel with the star-delta switch starts it in star connection every time, with roughly a third of the starting current, and switches over to delta once up to speed — the breaker on the supply never sees the current surge of a direct-on-line start. The dryer on the bracket above the tank does the same as on the 500s: +3 °C, an electronic drain, a bypass line. If you draw air for long stretches, take the same unit with a dryer on the larger tank with direct-on-line start.
