Product detailed description

B59B-4-270FTD from the front right — B59B pump with a 4 kW motor, pressure switch with a gauge, dryer on a 270 l tank, feetB59B · dryer +3 °C · 270 l · 653 l/min · direct-on-line start

The smallest machine of the range with a dryer and the only one to pair the B59B pump with a 270 l tank. The B59B-4-270FTD puts 653 l/min from the cast-iron two-stage B59B pump with a 4 kW motor into a horizontal 270 l tank at 11 bar and, downstream of the tank, condenses the moisture out with a refrigerant dryer at a pressure dew point of +3 °C. Direct-on-line start, 97 dB Lwa and 77 dB at 4 m. For a tyre shop with pipework to several lifts or a smaller paint shop where the air going into the pipes is to be dry.

Why the smallest pump with a dryer

The B59B unit with a 4 kW motor is the same as the base stationary machine without a dryer; the difference lies in what happens after the tank. Air from the 270 l air tank passes through the dryer mounted on a bracket above the tank, is cooled to +3 °C, the water condenses and drains off via an electronic drain — the air that goes into the distribution system won't condense in the pipes or in the gun. The motor is started directly by the pressure switch, without a control panel: suited for a workshop connection with standard fusing and a machine that switches on several times an hour. A 270 l tank is sufficient where air is drawn in batches — impact wrench, inflating, one gun; anyone doing continuous spraying or sandblasting should go for the five-hundred-litre version.

Equipment and details

What the B59B-4-270FTD has from the factory

  • two-stage twin-cylinder B59B pump with cast-iron cylinders and an intercooler, oil-lubricated, with an oil sight glass; V-belt drive geared down to 1,400 rpm, moulded belt guard
  • three-phase 4 kW (5.5 hp) electric motor, 400 V / 50 Hz, thermal overload protection; automatic stop/start pressure switch with a gauge; direct-on-line start
  • intake 653 l/min, pressure 11 bar, aftercooler on the pump outlet
  • refrigerant dryer on the tank: pressure dew point +3 °C, electronic condensate drain, bypass line; piped up and wired at the factory
  • horizontal 270 l tank on feet with a valve for draining condensate; outlet to the pipework downstream of the dryer (regulator, filter and quick couplings at the workstation)
  • noise 97 dB Lwa, 77 dB at 4 m
  • AirTube QR code on the tank opens service videos; 2-year warranty (extension to 3 years at extra cost), 10 years on the tank against rusting through

Where next if the B59B-4-270FTD is not the right fit

The same pump and dryer with a bigger reserve is the B59B-4-500FTD; if you do not want the dryer on the machine, you add one to the pipework yourself and take the basic B59B-4-270FT without a dryer. The same 270 l tank with a bigger pump and a star-delta start is on the B60-5.5-270FTXD; the siblings with the B60 and B70 pumps are compared on the range page for the machines with a dryer. Into the pipework at every lift goes a pressure regulator with a filter.

Values apply to a 400 V / 50 Hz supply. Intake is the amount of air the pump draws in; how much of it reaches the tool depends on the pressure and the tank. Noise is given as the sound power level Lwa and the sound pressure at 4 m from the machine. The pressure dew point of +3 °C applies at the working pressure of the machine. A piston compressor works in cycles (topping up the tank and pausing), not continuously.

Ventilek’s tip

For a tyre shop with three lifts I take this one: 653 l/min is enough for the impact wrenches and tyre inflation, and no water collects in the pipework — the dryer condenses it out before the air enters the pipes.

The company ABAC has been one of the most important manufacturers of piston compressors on the world market since its establishment in 1980 . Currently, the brand ABAC is owned by ATLAS COPCO, the largest compressor manufacturer in the world and is part of the multinational group PAD (Professional Air Division). The goal of the ABAC brand is to become a world leader in the development, production and sale of piston compressors.

Factory of ABAC, the compressor manufacturer

Production at company ABAC

ABAC compressors are manufactured in 5 production centers around the world, with an annual production of almost 2 million compressors. The brand's parent plant ABAC in Turin, Italy employs around 250 employees and is primarily focused on the design and production of professional V-belt compressors with a daily production capacity of over 600 machines. The ABAC plant also has extensive warehouse facilities with several thousand compressors available for immediate delivery.

Production of ABAC piston compressors

Innovative concept

ABAC does not only mean compressor production. We are directly involved in the development of key innovations and advanced solutions and set trends in the compressor market. The efforts of our designers have resulted in, for example, an aerodynamic pulley housing for temperature reduction of up to 35°C, the revolutionary XPAND hose reel compressor or the PRO LINE ZERO oil-free compressors with V-belts. In the ABAC program you will always find the most modern and unique solution for compressed air production on the market.

Innovations in ABAC brand compressors

A modern solution

We are a modern company that is aware of the current trends around us. We are bringing advanced technologies to the compressor industry, such as the use of QR codes and the AIR TUBE app to make it easier for the user of our compressor to access the information they need. We use social media, chat and multimedia instead of traditional marketing and documentation formats. With compressors ABAC you will always have convenient access to all the necessary information.

Easy servicing of ABAC compressors
