Basic compressed air filters
A basic filter captures solid particles from 3–5 µm and separates part of the liquid water and oil. It is the most common first filter after the compressor: it protects the refrigeration dryer, air tools, valves and cylinders. The listing shows complete filters, their spare elements and the filters in air treatment units – separate them with the Product type filter.

Where to use a basic filter
In front of a refrigeration dryer, after a coarse filter and as the main filter of smaller workshop networks. The same grade also includes P-VAC vacuum filters that protect vacuum pumps.

How to choose a basic filter
- For cleaner air continue with a 0.1 µm fine pre-filter and a 0.01 µm microfilter, and after a desiccant dryer with a dust filter.
- Pressure and housing: up to 16 bar the aluminium AAF series, up to 16 and 25 bar the flanged BF and BFHP, up to 50 bar HF, stainless process series up to 14 and 50 bar and high-pressure CHP and IHP up to 100, 250 and 420 bar.
- Size by the flow at your pressure. The nominal flow applies to the reference pressure; at lower pressure a larger filter is needed – the conversion is on each series page.
- Condensate and clogging: the filter needs a condensate drain, and a clogging indicator shows when to replace the element.
