A drum of synthetic Rotair Xtra — the top range for ABAC SPINN screw compressors. With a drum it is about plants where several machines run at once and the oil is changed in-house. Ambient up to 46 °C, interval 8,000 running hours.
When a drum of synthetic makes sense
Synthetic oil costs more per litre, but with a drum the difference shows least — the price per litre in a drum is the lowest in the whole range. If you have several machines in continuous duty, it is the cheapest way to keep them on genuine lubricant.
Watch the time it stays open. At an 8,000-hour interval one machine has its oil changed once a year — a drum would then stand open for a long time. It makes sense from several machines, or when servicing several plants.

Get a proper hand pump for a drum of synthetic. A cheap plastic one will come apart on synthetic oil before you empty the drum.
Technical data follow the supplier’s datasheet and the manufacturer’s documentation. The change interval applies at normal temperature and humidity and in a dust-free environment. Oil is drained warm, with the machine shut down and depressurised.
