Painted pressure vessels and air receivers
Painted pressure vessels and air receivers from 5 to 10000 litres — 103 vessels and 9 KVP fittings kits. Vertical, horizontal and small horizontal vessels without feet for working pressures of 8 to 42 bar, as well as vacuum vessels for vacuum down to −1 bar. On the outside they are protected by a powder coating, white RAL 9010 on the oxygen vessels and blue RAL 5015 on all the others.
Inside, the steel stays bare, so a painted air receiver suits dry, heated rooms. For 69 of the vessels listed, you can also choose a galvanised version on the product page, and for some of them the ALM internal coating too. The KVP fittings kits go with the vertical painted vessels from 100 to 720 l for 11 bar and from 1000 to 3000 l for 12 bar. The oxygen vessels always have the ALM internal coating; for them, it is not a choice of version.

What paint can and cannot do
The paint is a powder coating that is applied to the vessel electrostatically and cured in an oven. It protects the vessel’s shell, outdoors too, as long as it remains undamaged.
Inside, a painted vessel is bare steel, and water condenses in it from humid air. Drain it regularly so that it does not eat away at the vessel from the inside. For damp conditions and operations with a lot of condensate, the galvanised version is the right choice, and where the air comes into contact with food, a vessel with the ALM internal coating.
Painted only, or also in another version
Most product pages offer several versions that differ only in their finish. You can tell them apart by the third letter of the order code: P is painted, G galvanised and A has the ALM internal coating. Of the vessels in this listing, 69 also come in a galvanised variant and 38 with the ALM internal coating, including seven oxygen vessels that have it with no choice.
The following are made in paint only: the small vessels up to 50 l, all vacuum vessels, the horizontal vessels from 100 to 200 l, the horizontal 1500 l vessel for 12 bar and all horizontal vessels for 16 bar.
A painted vessel for your compressor: pressure and size
The pressure on the vessel’s data plate must be at least as high as the maximum pressure the compressor delivers into it. Compressors up to 10 bar need 11-bar or 12-bar vessels, a compressor with a cut-out pressure above 10 bar needs a 16-bar vessel, and high-pressure compressors need 32-bar or 42-bar vessels. The size depends on the compressor output and on how the air demand varies; the calculation method is in our advice centre on choosing an air receiver.
The fully equipped vessels from 100 to 3000 l also come painted; they have ball valves, a pressure gauge and a 10.5 bar safety valve already mounted and come with TÜV certification of the pressure assembly. You can complete a stand-alone vessel with a KVP kit for the same volume and pressure: it contains a safety valve set to 10.5 bar, a pressure gauge, ball valves for the air inlet and outlet, a condensate drain valve and the mounting hardware.
Directives and inspections
Standard small and medium-sized vessels up to 720 l for 11 and 16 bar are manufactured to the SPVD Directive 2014/29/EU on simple pressure vessels. Large vessels from 1000 l, high-pressure vessels and all oxygen vessels comply with the PED Directive 2014/68/EU on pressure equipment. Vacuum vessels are made to the EN 286-1 standard and do not bear the CE marking. Inspections and their intervals are set by national regulations according to the vessel’s volume and pressure; what applies in the Czech Republic is summarised in our article on pressure vessel inspections.

Ventilek’s tip
Paint only protects the outside. Condensate that stays at the bottom rusts a painted vessel from the inside and is carried along with the air into the pipework. Drain it every day, most reliably with an automatic condensate drain.
- What colour are the painted vessels?
- Blue RAL 5015. The only exception is the oxygen vessels, which have white RAL 9010 paint and an ALM coating inside.
- Is a painted air receiver protected on the inside too?
- No, it is bare steel inside, which is why the condensate must be drained from it regularly. The galvanised version is protected inside and out.
- Which vessels are made in a painted version only?
- Small vessels up to 50 l, vacuum vessels and some of the horizontal ones, for example all horizontal 16-bar vessels. Apart from the oxygen vessels, the others are also made galvanised.
- Is there a ready-made fittings kit for a painted vessel?
- For vertical vessels from 100 to 3000 l for 11 and 12 bar, yes: the KVP kits. They have a safety valve set to 10.5 bar, so they suit compressors that cut out at no more than 10 bar.
- Are vacuum receivers painted too?
- Yes. Vacuum vessels from 100 to 3000 l for vacuum down to −1 bar are made only in blue RAL 5015 paint.
- Can a painted vessel stand outdoors?
- The paint protects the shell outdoors too, as long as it remains undamaged. For frost, however, choose vessels rated down to −20 °C, and outdoors the galvanised version is the best choice.
