Compressors supplied without a receiver, that is with a 0 l tank. The machine is installed next to a separate air receiver or straight into a system that already holds enough air. It makes sense in compressor rooms where one receiver is shared between several machines, and anywhere the vessel is already in place and only the air source is being replaced. A receiver is always needed, though — without stored air the compressor would cycle far too often.
