Innovation of Walter WK piston pump units

Based on years of operational experience, we are launching an innovated range of WK piston aggregates. These new aggregates have successfully passed rigorous testing since the beginning of 2024 and are now ready for practical deployment. In terms of technical parameters, they remain fully compatible with the previous generation, while simultaneously introducing a whole range of improvements. Below, we present the main technical innovations of the new WK series and explain the benefits they bring to various industrial applications.

Technical Innovations of the New WK Series

The new WK generation includes several design changes and improvements that increase both the performance and the service life of the aggregates:

  • Precision Craftsmanship and Durable Parts: The new WK aggregates are manufactured with higher machining precision and fitted with more durable pistons and piston rings. The higher quality interaction of parts extends the life of the entire aggregate while reducing the amount of oil penetrating the compressed air. Furthermore, valve plates, reeds, and seals have been reinforced and made from premium materials from world-class suppliers (e.g., from Sweden and the USA), further increasing the reliability of these components.

  • Improved Filtration and Cleaner Air: Filter elements in the new aggregates are now manufactured using steel components and protected by a durable mesh. As a result, the filters have higher impurity-trapping efficiency and help maintain optimal compressor operating conditions. Additionally, steel air filter covers are now used across all models, offering better resistance to high temperatures and mechanical damage during transport and operation.

  • Bleeder Valve for Heavy-Duty Operation (WK 430): The WK 430 model is equipped with newly designed bleeder valves that prevent oil mist leakage even in extreme operating conditions. This minimizes oil loss and ensures the compressed air remains significantly cleaner.

  • Easy Startup After Downtime (WK 1500): For the largest model, the WK 1500, innovated piston pin bearings have been deployed for more reliable ignition after extended downtime. The compressor can start without difficulty even after a long period of inactivity, reducing the risk of the aggregate seizing upon restarting.

The new aggregates are characterized by higher precision in the machining of interacting elements. This extends their service life and reduces the amount of oil contained in the compressed air. More durable rings and pistons have been used. Valve plates, reeds, and reinforced seals were made from high-quality materials. We have implemented solutions from world-class suppliers, including those from Sweden and the USA.

  • Compatibility with the Previous Range: The new WK aggregates can be fully deployed in place of older types due to the preservation of identical basic parameters and dimensions. Modernization or replacement of the aggregate therefore does not require major interventions into existing systems.

Steel air filter covers were used in all models, which are more resistant to temperature and potential damage during transport and operation. Filter elements were manufactured using steel materials. A protective mesh protects the filter material, which has even higher filtration capabilities to ensure suitable operating conditions for our aggregates. In the WK 430 model, structurally different bleeder valves were used, preventing oil mist escape even under harsh operating conditions. In the WK 1500 model, different piston pin bearings were used, allowing for easier startup in case of longer downtime and reducing the risk of aggregate seizure at these design points.
